
Shafqat Mahmood, the federal minister of education and professional training, has announced that O level and IGCSE exams will begin on May 10, 2021. The Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) had previously confirmed that the exams would be held after the 15th of May, but the exam schedule has now been modified. The education minister took to Twitter to share the details about the situation. The stakeholders’ meeting was held, and it was agreed to start the exams in the second week of May, with the students being told to prepare for the exams. The minister previously stated that the annual matric, intermediate, and Cambridge exams would be conducted in accordance with the published schedule. The matric and intermediate exams will begin in May and June, he added.

The start date for the O level and IGCSE exams has also been announced by the CEO of Cambridge Assessment International Education. She also thanked Pakistan’s government for its efforts to develop the country’s educational system. It has also been mentioned that by modifying the test schedule, students will be able to illustrate what they have learned from their coursework and will have a greater opportunity to participate in the exams.

Many students had previously requested that the A and O level exams be postponed due to the rapid rise in the number of coronavirus cases. Following that, the federal education minister said that he would address the question of exam postponement with the appropriate authorities. According to a statement released by Cambridge, A-level exams will take place as scheduled, while O-level exams will follow the new schedule. According to the previously announced exam timetable, these exams were set to take place on April 26th, 2021, with AS and A level exams following in late April.
